Further detailed aspects of the role -
To provide all relevant financial advice to finance Directors/Controllers and finance Team members from different business units, oversee all compliance initiatives and local statutory and other regulatory reporting requirements and be involved in financial and system projects to ensure we are building compliant processes.
Act as a key conduit between Corporate (US) / Corporate functions in the region on one hand, and Regional finance, Business and Functional Leaders on the other hand, to ensure good and timely flow of communication, knowledge on compliance requirements, and keep a tab on status of various financial reporting submissions etc.
Play a leadership role in all matters related to General Ledger, ensure timely closing and preparation of full set of statutory reports for the Asia Pacific region and be the key liaison for Corporate finance and Accounting teams in US.
Provide guidance on the preparation/review of statutory filings and various local and company tax returns to the relevant tax authorities and ensure timely submissions, and tax compilations/summaries requested by corporate tax department on a regular basis.
Oversee the timely completion of the various annual statutory and tax audits, and mandatory transfer pricing studies. Also ensure all relevant SOX controls are in place and SOX audits are cleared with no or minimal deficiencies.
Ensure strict internal controls and compliance with all local accounting, tax, statutory, legislative requirements as well as corporate policies. Identify and propose areas of process improvement as necessary.
Liaise with external and internal auditors, tax agents, banks and other government agencies as necessary.
Perform other functional responsibilities such as determination of appropriate cost allocation models within the region and conduct best practice reviews.
Work with regional finance teams for timely intercompany reconciliations and settlements.
Work with Regional Treasury and finance Teams for effective hedging and good book keeping practices aimed towards minimizing foreign exchange gains/losses.
Take a key role in the set up of Shared Service Financial Operations for the region.
Support VP finance in other key financial initiatives for the region.
Qualification / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in any finance Discipline.
Ideally good Big 4 Audit experience, and other relevant experience in the Compliance side of US MNCs.
