Position: Middleware Support Engineer
Summary:
Work within a data centre team environment to ensure availability of Middleware environment, particularly Oracle Application servers, with significant business or IT impact, handling all installations, incidents, data analysis, security, performance, and standards compliance issues.
The technical environment includes Websphere and Oracle Application applications operating in SLES, Solaris and Windows environment.
Job Description:
· Responsible for a group of servers in the Middleware-Oracle Application environment
· Responsible for highly complex technical solutions in the Middleware-Oracle Application environment
· Plans, develops, implements and maintains the overall integration of the
· Middleware-Oracle Application environment in the data centre
· Implements configuration of Middleware-Oracle Application environment
· Assesses and optimizes system performance and system capacity
· Monitor performance of servers and take appropriate proactive measures to prevent impacts for applications
· Monitor performance data and analyzes to detect trends and take appropriate measures to improve the performance of the Middleware-Oracle Application environment
· Provides escalated support and leads troubleshooting and-or problem resolution for Middleware-Oracle Application systems; and document root cause report for management and customer review
· Investigates and evaluates timing and implementation of next versions for existing Middleware-Oracle Application environment within current architecture
· Collaborate with engineering in developing new applications and integrating new technologies, as well as supporting new application projects into the Middleware-Oracle Application space
· May design and develop specialized automation tools, scripts, and processes for the administration and performance monitoring of system
· Participates in creating and developing local system engineering standards, best practices, support guidelines and procedures
· Provide technical mentoring for junior engineers
· Participates in disaster recovery planning, and plan disaster recovery tests in conjunction of application support teams
· Responsible for providing weekly and monthly metrics on Middleware-Oracle pplication environment availability and application availability and overall health.
· Extensive Vendor collaboration is required and may include management of vendors for technical support and issues
· Extensive interaction and-or collaboration with IT professionals such as Systems and Network Engineers, Security and Controls analysts and Architects is typically required
· Interacts with management to present technical subjects
· Customer interaction for problem resolution and escalated issues is typically required
Qualification:
· Bachelors degree or equivalent in a relevant field
· Certified Oracle Application Server professional is highly desirable
· ITIL certified IT professional
Experiences:
· 4 or more years progressive responsibilities and experience in Websphere-Oracle Application Server administration.
· Demonstrated technical depth and expertise in implementation in Websphere-Oracle Application Server
· Experience in a global data centre support environment is an added advantage
Other Skills:
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Organizational skills are required to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
· A continuous improvement mindset
· Strong teamwork skills across a diverse work force.
· Project management skills are a plus to support technology changes - improvement driven by the business
