| Job Description |
Database Administrator (Sybase) RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Design, plan, install and configure database software on the following operating systems: Sun Solaris, Linux, AIX or Windows.
2.Design and implement database backup solutions (in conjunction to backup software technology experts).
3.Review, approve (or reject) and implement planned database installations, upgrades and proposed data migration approaches.
4.Design and oversee setup of database systems monitoring implementation.
5.Recommend appropriate housekeeping procedures for implemented databases to keep them operating correctly.
6.Document the design of installed databases.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.5+ years of experience working as a database specialist with Sybase.
2.5+ years experience in designing and implementing enterprise class database backup solutions (e.g. RMAN, online backups and open database agents, split mirror off-host backups).
3.3+ years experience working in project development support team environments and database schema design.
4.3+ years experience in database migration / transition approaches (dump / load, export / import, replication, etc).
5.3+ years in database data replication technologies and methods (e.g. database layer master / slave replication, block level disk replication, etc).
6.Detailed working knowledge and sound experience in scripting languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, or other midrange systems industry related scripting experience (Perl, Shell).
7.Sound knowledge in at least one of the following operating system technologies (Solaris 9 and above, AIX 5.2 and above, Red Hat Linux).
8.Fundamental knowledge of midrange computing platforms technology and the associated enabling technologies such as: LPAR, soft partitioning (Virtual Machines), SAN disk, SAN FC fabric, RAID technology, clustered systems and disaster recovery.
