Illinois Advanced Research Center at Singapore Ltd. (Illinois ARCS) is a Singapore company affiliated with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) in the USA.  Established in 2009 for the purpose of conducting impactful research, Illinois ARCS operates today in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) and a myriad of additional sponsors, universities and collaborators both in and outside Singapore. Illinois ARCS directly interfaces with Illinois for its research program leadership and many of its business support functions.

Illinois ARCS is an interdisciplinary research center focusing on breakthrough innovations with current core programs focusing on interactive cyber-infrastructures and fermentation-based food production.  Strategically planned expansion of the portfolio is anticipated with a corresponding growth in personnel. Illinois ARCS’s research mission is carried out through programs and projects that facilitate interactions among Illinois researchers, local researchers, and industry partners.

Illinois ARCS is situated in NRF’s Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) on the campus of the National University of Singapore (NUS), along with several other research centers established by top universities in the world.

Current research activities of Illinois ARCS take place within a major core program sponsored by NRF CREATE coupled with several additional research projects that receive funding from various sources, including the corporate sector.
