Job description

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading listed financial institution with a significant presence in Singapore's financial markets. This six-month contract role has arisen to cover a maternity leave within the Legal, Risk & Compliance function, and is available for an immediate or near-term start.

This is a hands-on, substantive position — not a supporting role. The incumbent will step into an active portfolio of compliance responsibilities and be expected to contribute meaningfully from day one, ensuring continuity of standards and output throughout the cover period.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Assessment

  • Monitor and assess the organisation's obligations under applicable local and international regulatory frameworks, including the Securities & Futures Act (SFA) and MAS requirements governing capital markets participants
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and periodic reviews, including staff dealing controls and self-assessment exercises
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments and advise management on their operational implications

Regulatory Engagement

  • Support the organisation's ongoing engagement with its principal regulators, contributing to submissions, examinations, and ad hoc regulatory queries with well-reasoned and timely responses

Compliance Advisory & Training

  • Provide compliance advice to business and support units on complex initiatives with material regulatory dimensions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders — including Legal, Risk, Technology, and Business Development — to embed commercially sound compliance guidance
  • Support compliance awareness and training delivery across the organisation

Governance & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of compliance reports for senior management and Board-level governance committees
  • Maintain accurate and current compliance records in accordance with internal policies and professional standards

Candidate Profile

  • A good Bachelor's Degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional compliance qualifications (e.g. ICA Diploma, CAMS) are an advantage
  • At least 6 years of compliance experience within a regulated financial institution or capital markets environment
  • Solid working knowledge of the SFA and MAS regulatory frameworks
  • Strong analytical rigour — able to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical guidance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the presence to engage senior stakeholders and regulators effectively
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities without compromising quality
  • Able to integrate quickly into an established team and maintain momentum throughout the engagement
