Key Responsibilities

Production Leadership and Quality Control

• Supervise the end-to-end distillation process, ensuring stills and equipment are operated correctly and production data is recorded with accuracy.
• Collaborate with the HOD to plan and execute weekly/ fortnightly production schedules to optimize resource use.
• Oversee the measurement and charging of raw materials and the blending of spirits according to strict formulations to ensure batch consistency.
• Lead the team in supporting new product launches and commercialization efforts.

Logistics and Inventory Management

• Direct weekly stock takes and ensure strict adherence to FIFO (First-In-First-Out) practices for raw materials, packaging, and NGS.
• Oversee supply chain costing, log and track logistics costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Coordinate local shipments, ensuring accurate record-keeping for traceability and managing any product recalls or damage claims.

Team Supervision

• Act as the primary point of contact for Distillery Assistants, assigning ad-hoc duties and ensuring the team maintains cleanliness standards.
• Enforce health and safety regulations as per SOPs and ensure all production areas are organized and traceable.
• Lead routine maintenance checks on distillery equipment and coordinate timely repairs.
• Oversee the safe operation of forklifts and stackers for the movement of materials.

Requirements:

• Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Forklift operation and manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Responsible, team-oriented.
• Comfortable working in an occasionally noisy environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standards.
• Proficiency in basic math for formulations and the ability to follow and create clear written instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 20kg.

Desirable Qualifications

• Relevant educational background and experience.
• A positive attitude and a healthy curiosity to learn.
• Food science education and/or culinary experience is advantageous.
• Distillery experience is a plus.
