Role Overview:
This First Line role is suited for a Product Specialist, Coverage Banker, Transactor, with expertise in Corporate Finance, Structured Finance or Term Lending. Experience in Export Credit Agency (ECA) Finance or Project Finance will be a strong plus.

The candidate will drive the origination, structuring, and execution of ECA backed financings across Asia. The role requires origination and execution skills, client management, documentation negotiation, senior-level client negotiations, and the ability to influence stakeholders across functions (Risk, Legal, Operations, and external partners). The role has accountability for direct business results.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Execution:

  • Achieve quantitative and qualitative targets for the Asia ECA team, leading origination, structuring, and execution of ECA financings in Power, Infrastructure, Shipping, Aviation, Renewables, Metals and Mining, Oil & Gas, and other industries requiring long-term funding.
  • Own the end-to-end deal lifecycle: from pitchbook preparation and client negotiation to credit approvals, legal documentation, and funding.
  • Optimize deal execution by coordinating multi-jurisdictional processes, lender syndications, and due diligence (financial, environmental & social, and contractual).
  • Develop cross-border financing pipeline by training clients, exporters, and internal teams on ECA processes and structuring.

Portfolio & Risk Management:

  • Monitor and manage the Asia ECA portfolio, ensuring compliance with policies, and risk assessments.
  • Mitigate operational and documentation risks, ensuring adherence to Citi’s policies while driving efficient execution.
  • Produce management reporting, including pipeline updates, budget tracking, and business performance analytics.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership:

  • Collaborate with ECA colleagues in other global geographies, Bankers, Product Partners, and Underwriters to ensure seamless deal flow and execution.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the allocated ECAs in the region, managing the relationship, risks, operational and administrative matters.
  • Deliver training to Risk, Business, and Legal teams on ECA products, processes, and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 4 to 6+ years of hands-on experience in ECA Finance, Project Finance, or Structured Finance, with a proven track record in origination, execution, and portfolio management.
  • Strong structuring, credit analysis skills, with experience in credit approvals, loan documentation, and structuring.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Client management and origination.
  • Familiarity with Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) based documentation and loan agreement negotiation experience.
  • Exceptional negotiation and diplomacy – ability to influence senior stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Language proficiency and strong communication skills in English. Mandarin (written and verbal) a plus to engage with Sinosure and North Asian clients and agencies.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Asia Pacific for client meetings and business development.
  • Proactive problem-solving – adept at recognizing risks and driving resolutions under tight deadlines. Hands on approach with willingness to take on multiple tasks as per the requirements of the team.
  • Highly organized – manages complex processes with attention to detail (e.g., multi-lender syndications, regulatory deadlines).
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Masters Degree is "Good to Have".
