Job description

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the assessment and management of patients referred for occupational therapy in various clinical settings.


Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assesses and manages patients referred for occupational therapy independently and implements appropriate treatment plans.
  • Reports to referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
  • Documents patient occupational therapy records accurately.
  • Charges patients accurately.
  • Performs registration of new patients.
  • Updates individual performance statistical records regularly.
  • Complies with clinical and service standards.
  • Practices within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other healthcare members and participate in case conferences.
  • Assists in the supervision of Therapy Assistants in the workgroup.
  • Participates in departmental QIP and other activities.
  • Assists senior in inventory checks and upkeep of equipment and work area.
  • Contributes to departmental inservice training programmes.
  • Actively updates occupational therapy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • At least local Diploma/Degree in Occupational therapy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Service oriented and customer focused.
  • Result oriented.
  • Team worker and also able to work independently.
  • Competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel / Word / Access / Powerpoint).
