Client Introduction
A financial services firm is hiring a Technical Applications Lead (Financial Services) to oversee a critical business systems environment. This is a role for someone who understands how software is built, how live applications are supported, and how to lead both internal teams and external delivery partners in a practical, hands-on way from a management perspective. It does not require coding day to day.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the team responsible for keeping core business applications reliable, supported, and fit for change
• Guide the team on sound development practices, structured delivery, and sensible technical decisions
• Oversee both enhancement work and day-to-day production support across in-house and outsourced resources
• Work with business users to turn operational needs into workable application solutions
• Manage incidents, recurring issues, changes, and ongoing improvements across a live environment
• Coordinate external developers and support resources to ensure delivery quality and accountability
• Bring structure, ownership, and technical judgement to how applications are run and evolved

Job Requirements

• Proven experience leading an applications or software team in a technical management capacity
• Must have a real development background, even if no longer coding day to day
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, application change delivery, and production support
• Able to lead technical discussions, challenge weak approaches, and make practical decisions
• Prior experience in financial services is preferred, especially in operationally sensitive environments
