Job Description
Credit Review (Retail) is responsible for conducting a detailed credit analysis based on information furnished by the borrower, publicly available information, the lender's evaluation of the borrower's credit needs, and the ability to pay across a range of products against credit standards set by the organization. The Credit Review / Underwriting focus specializes in performing credit reviews of loan portfolios. May identify underwriting weaknesses and suggest changes. Develops, maintains, and evaluates portfolios for compliance to firm-wide or business unit policies and regulations. May involve credit underwriting skills and wealth management responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
* Assess the creditworthiness of corporate applicants by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, business plans, and other relevant documentation.
* Conduct thorough financial analysis, including cash flow projections, debt service capacity, and collateral valuation, to determine repayment ability and risk exposure.
* Risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and recommendations for approval or rejection.
* Ensure all credit decisions comply with internal credit policies, lending guidelines, regulatory frameworks (e.g., MAS regulations), and industry best practices.
* Collaborate with relationship managers, sales teams, and other internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify application details.
* Identify and escalate potential credit risks or unusual transactions to appropriate management levels.
* Participate in the review and enhancement of credit policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and risk management.
* Keep abreast of market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.
Job Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in credit analysis, credit approval, or risk management within the banking or financial services industry.
* Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, credit products, and lending principles.
* Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and credit best practices.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with credit risk management systems.
