What the role is

The Deputy Manager / Manager (Acquisitions & Resources) drives the strategic development, acquisition, and optimisation of library resources to support teaching, learning, and applied education at Singapore Polytechnic.

This role integrates collection development, digital innovation, financial stewardship, and data-driven decision-making, ensuring the Library remains a future-ready and responsive learning partner aligned with evolving curricular and institutional priorities.

What you will be working on

Enable Curriculum & Learning Outcomes

  • Oversees the digital and print resources to support teaching, learning, and lifelong learning needs
  • Lead sourcing and acquisition of resources such as books, e-books, journals, databases and AI Tools
  • Proactively identify new and emerging courses to anticipate resource requirements ahead of demand
  • Work closely with the academic schools to align resources with curriculum developments and needs
  • Review resource strategies  to ensure they are forward-looking and aligned with institutional priorities

Drive Value through Budget & Vendor Management

  • Manage the acquisitions budget, ensuring optimal allocation and cost-effectiveness
  • Oversee subscriptions, licensing agreements, and vendor relationships in compliance with procurement policies
  • Analyse usage and cost data to guide renewal, rationalisation, and new resources
  • Contribute to collaborative initiatives to maximise value and resource sharing

Advance Digital Learning & Innovation

  • Identify and implement AI and digital learning resources to enhance student learning
  • Monitor emerging trends (e.g. AI-enabled learning) to support adoption of self-directed, blended, and technology-enabled learning approaches

Enable Data-Driven Decisions

  • Monitor reports to track usage and resource impact, while analysing trends and vendor performance to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Use insights to optimise collection strategy and resource utilisation

Strengthen Operations & Partnerships

  • Oversee acquisitions workflows and systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and digitalisation initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders
  • Supervise and guide team members and build capabilities in digital tools

[What we are looking for]

  • Tertiary education in relevant fields
  • Preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Library acquisitions work and familiar with government procurement
  • Independent, resourceful, meticulous and have good analytical and digital skills
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Possess good values and effective interpersonal, negotiation & networking skills

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
