About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Food R&D Manager / Assistant Manager to lead food innovation and product development across nutritional and future food concepts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on R&D leader to drive new product development, formulation, commercialisation and production scale-up, while shaping future food innovation in health and nutrition.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Food Technologists / R&D researchers in product and process development.

• Drive new product innovation from concept development and formulation through testing, commercialisation and production scale-up.

• Develop innovative food concepts based on consumer needs, market trends and health & nutrition developments.

• Lead cross-functional projects covering bakery, confectionery, dairy and culinary applications.

• Develop and optimise formulations using key ingredients including flour, oils & fats, and proteins.

• Manage food R&D projects from initiation, planning and development through technology transfer.

• Work closely with scientists, production teams and industry partners to provide technical expertise and solutions.

• Evaluate and improve existing products and processes to enhance quality, functionality, productivity and commercial potential.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior researchers while strengthening the team's food technology capabilities.

• Contribute technical and commercial insights to support future R&D and innovation strategies.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of food R&D / product development experience, preferably within bakery, confectionery, dairy or culinary industries.

• At least 5 years of R&D supervisory or equivalent experience, with exposure to leading cross-disciplinary teams.

• Proven track record in product innovation and commercialisation, from laboratory formulation to production-scale technology transfer.

• Strong hands-on knowledge of food ingredients and applications, particularly flour, oils & fats and proteins.

• Experience developing innovative concepts such as gluten-free, reduced-sugar, plant-based or protein-enriched products will be advantageous.

• Strong project management skills with experience leading multiple food innovation / NPD projects.

• Commercially minded with the ability to connect technical innovation with business opportunities.

• Strong leadership, communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.

• Able to make sound technical decisions based on scientific principles and effectively influence stakeholders.
