We are seeking a Network/Firewall Engineer to manage network and firewall administration, patching, firmware upgrades and vulnerability remediation. The role involves maintaining network infrastructure security, troubleshooting patch-related issues and supporting infrastructure operations in accordance with operational and service-level requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain network and firewall environments, including Cisco, Fortinet, F5 and other relevant network security platforms.

• Perform patch management and vulnerability remediation for network and firewall devices.

• Troubleshoot issues arising from patching, firmware upgrades and infrastructure maintenance.

• Conduct patch assessments and recommend, plan and coordinate deployment activities.

• Perform VMware ESXi patching and support BIOS and firmware upgrades.

• Use patch management tools, such as NetBot or equivalent tools, to support patch deployment and monitoring.

• Automate pre- and post-patching tasks where applicable.

• Manage Cisco platforms, including IOS and IOS-XE.

• Analyse network flows and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

• Administer and support DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (IPAM).

• Maintain switching and routing environments, including VLANs, link aggregation, Ethernet, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.

• Configure and maintain standard and extended access control lists (ACLs).

• Monitor logs and perform routine maintenance to support network availability, security and performance.

Requirements

• 8 years of relevant experience in network and firewall administration.

• Practical experience in patch management, vulnerability management and troubleshooting patch- or firmware-related issues.

• Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, F5 and relevant network infrastructure technologies.

• Knowledge of network security technologies, including Cisco ACI, Arista, Check Point and Palo Alto Networks, where applicable to the operating environment.

• Experience in VMware ESXi patching, BIOS and firmware upgrades, and patch management tools.

• Strong understanding of network flows, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, switching, routing and access control lists.

• Experience working in an SLA-driven environment.

• Willingness and availability to support scheduled weekend duties on a roster basis and weekday on-call support when required.
