We are looking for a Settlement Officer to support our securities operations and trade settlement activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of securities transactions across various asset classes, while working closely with counterparties, custodians, dealers and internal stakeholders to resolve trade and settlement-related issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform trade capture and processing for securities transactions, including Equities, Fixed Income and Structured Notes.
  • Handle daily trade processing activities including trade booking, validation, confirmation and matching with counterparties.
  • Review and process trade exceptions that are not successfully booked through Straight-Through Processing (STP) channels.
  • Ensure settlement instructions are accurately released and transactions are settled within the required market timelines.
  • Liaise with counterparties, custodians, dealers and relevant internal teams to investigate and resolve trade discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve cash and securities position breaks arising from transaction and settlement activities.
  • Monitor outstanding and failing trades and follow up with relevant parties to facilitate timely settlement.
  • Perform daily operational controls, reconciliations and end-of-day checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of transactions.
  • Escalate settlement issues, exceptions and potential operational risks where required.
  • Identify operational gaps and contribute towards process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support system enhancements or operational projects.
  • Support other operational and ad-hoc assignments as required by the Line Manager.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within banking, financial services, securities operations, custody or trade settlement.
  • Experience in securities settlement, trade processing or post-trade operations would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and securities products such as Equities, Fixed Income and Structured Products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with trade lifecycle, settlement processes, reconciliations and STP processing will be an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to investigate operational discrepancies and follow through on issues to resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A good team player who is also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven operational environment.
