An established financial institution is seeking a strategic and impact‑driven Senior Data Scientist to lead and execute its AI and Generative AI strategy across the Banking business. This high‑visibility leadership role bridges cutting‑edge AI research with enterprise‑scale implementation, driving innovation, personalization, risk intelligence and operational excellence across the bank.

You will co‑lead the AI Center of Excellence, champion high‑value GenAI use cases, and ensure AI solutions are industrialized, governed and embedded seamlessly across client‑facing and internal banking functions. The role requires deep technical mastery, strong strategic thinking and exceptional stakeholder leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the bank‑wide AI/GenAI strategy, steering the AI Center of Excellence and prioritizing high‑impact use cases.

• Drive industrialization of AI initiatives, building scalable ML/GenAI models, pipelines, secure APIs and enterprise‑grade architecture.

• Oversee end‑to‑end AI lifecycle including data strategy, model development, deployment, monitoring and continuous optimization.

• Partner with Front Office, Product, Risk, Compliance and Operations to embed AI solutions into core banking platforms and processes.

• Establish AI governance, ethics, transparency and regulatory compliance (GDPR, data privacy, model fairness).

• Champion an “AI everywhere” culture through mentorship, upskilling, partnerships and AI literacy programs.

• Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating technical capabilities into business value and navigating a global matrix organization.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.

• 12+ years’ experience in AI/ML, with 5–7 years in senior leadership roles, ideally in banking or financial services.

• Deep expertise in ML, Deep Learning, NLP, Reinforcement Learning and GenAI (LLMs, RAG, vector databases, agentic workflows).

• Strong engineering skills in Python, SQL, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), MLOps/LLMOps and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

• Proven experience building and deploying large‑scale AI pipelines, personalization models, recommendation systems and predictive analytics.

• Strong stakeholder leadership, strategic communication and ability to influence senior executives in a matrixed global organization.

• Solid understanding of AI ethics, regulatory compliance, data governance and risk management in banking.
