Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for ensuring that the company's digital network maps accurately reflect the physical telecommunications infrastructure that has been built
  • Complete GIS updates according to project schedules and deadlines.
  • Utilize the GIS system and company portal to update parameters for cables, joint closures, pipes, and ducts routing per as-built drawings.
  • Understand cable connectivity concepts and pipe test reports, updating related information in the GIS system
  • Ensure all updates adhere to established drafting standards, including formatting, naming conventions, layering, and title block information
  • Ensure that all GIS updates are accurately reflected and aligned across all relevant downstream systems and platforms.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end data consistency across systems, including initiating, tracking, and verifying update processes
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and system owners to ensure timely and accurate updates across all systems
  • Investigate and resolve data mismatches, perform analysis, and propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Requirements: 

  • Experience in GIS software (commonly Esri ArcGIS, Smallworld, QGIS, or similar)
  • Understanding of telecom fibre network topology
  • Ability to read engineering or CAD drawings
  • Knowledge of fibre optic infrastructure (cables, ducts, joint closures, manholes)
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Travelling onsite needed
