Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Exchange Engineer to join the Exchange Operations team of a leading global financial institution.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a large-scale Microsoft Exchange environment, covering both on-premises infrastructure and Exchange Online within Microsoft 365.

This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, independent problem-solving skills, and experience supporting business-critical messaging infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online environments.
• Manage Exchange Hybrid configurations, mail flow, SMTP routing, connectors, certificates, Database Availability Groups (DAGs), and mailbox migrations.
• Investigate and resolve complex messaging infrastructure incidents, performance issues, and service disruptions.
• Perform system maintenance, infrastructure changes, and upgrades in accordance with established change-management procedures.
• Develop and maintain operational automation and reporting solutions using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API.
• Support Microsoft 365 integration with enterprise applications, identity services, and other business systems.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes, including major incident resolution.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards.
• Collaborate with global infrastructure, application, security, and business teams to ensure service availability and operational efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and production support activities as required.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Exchange Server (2013, 2016, 2019 or later) in a large enterprise environment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience administering and supporting Exchange Online within Microsoft 365.
• Strong experience with Exchange Hybrid environments, SMTP, mail routing, connectors, certificates, DAGs, and mailbox migrations.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, identity integration, and cloud-based messaging technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Graph API for automation, reporting, or operational management.
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and enterprise infrastructure automation.
• Experience with incident, problem, and change management processes, preferably within an ITIL-based environment.
• Familiarity with enterprise ticketing platforms such as Remedy.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage technical issues, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to participate in on-call support and production incident management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Defender.
Knowledge of Azure Automation, Power Automate, Logic Apps, or other automation technologies.
Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, retention policies, eDiscovery, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience with enterprise monitoring and reporting tools such as Splunk, Azure Monitor, or Power BI.
Exposure to Azure infrastructure and cloud-native services.
Experience supporting enterprise messaging migrations, infrastructure modernization, or transformation projects.
Previous experience in banking, financial services, or large-scale enterprise technology operations.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
