We are looking for an Operations Manager with Business Development qualities for our marine service company based in Singapore.

On Site Alignment is a marine service provider, specialized in the installation, alignment and troubleshooting of all rotating equipment onboard ships, for example main engines, generators and gearboxes. We do stern tube bearing repairs, exchange bearings and couplings but also install machinery with shims or chockfast. Besides this, we do vibration measurements and analysis and dimensional surveys. Our engineers are highly skilled and believe in ‘making things happen’.

We are a company with 45 employees worldwide. With offices in the USA, UK, The Netherlands, UAE and Singapore, On Site Alignment is working towards a global presence to serve our customers wherever and whenever needed.

We are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Technical Operations Manager with a flexible 24/7 mentality and a passion for the maritime industry to lead and grow our business in Singapore. The role has two components: one is to run the daily operations where you are the linking pin between customers and engineers, overseeing day to day technical and operational processes to ensure seamless service delivery, while building and developing the local team. On the other hand, you drive business development: you map the market, identify and visit potential customers, yards and partners on a structured basis, and convert that market knowledge into new business in close collaboration with our Dutch partner companies with who we team up for marketing and sales events and business development opportunities.

What you will do:

• Oversee planning, preparation and execution of service jobs from customer request to service report.
• Build, lead and develop a team of highly skilled marine service engineers, including recruitment, planning and coaching.
• Safeguard quality, safety, compliance and budget (QSHE) on every job executed from Singapore.
• Develop and implement strategic plans in cooperation with the Operational Director to achieve sales targets and business objectives in the Singapore region.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to encourage long term business growth.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs and maritime associations, fostering a strong network within the Singaporean maritime community.
• Collaborate with the worldwide OSA offices on business development.
• Report to the Operational Director.

To fit this role, you

• Are an entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives on challenges and innovation, and who is equally comfortable in the workshop, on board a vessel and at the customer's desk.
• Have a minimum of 10 years of international experience in technical B2B sales, business development and general management, including proven managerial experience and a track record of growing revenue and teams.
• Have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture, or an equivalent technical background in rotating equipment.
• Have experience in the Singapore and Asian maritime and/or offshore market and have an active network in the maritime community.
• Excellent English and Dutch communication skills, due to the close cooperation with partner companies and Dutch management of all our offices worldwide.
• Have strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Are a team player with excellent organizational skills who likes to be in the center of the operations.
• Are result oriented, taking ownership of your work and development.
• Are expected to support weekend operations.
